In the coming few weeks, we will be starting an annual recertification process for all HMIS users in line with HUD’s recommendation and Chicago’s current Data Quality plan. The exam will cover various topics referred to in our training modules as well as the day to day use of HMIS. The exam is located in our TalentLMS system and will take a user approximately 20-25 minutes to complete. All HMIS users are required to take this exam annually. Please pass this on to users at your agency.
This test is designed to test you general knowledge of ServicePoint as well as information pertinent to your Specific Project Type.
If your Project type is not below, please email the Help Desk at helpdesk@allchicago.org.
Introduction of universal system elements
- Emergency Shelter/Transitional Housing/ Safe Havens
- Permanent Supportive Housing/Permanent Housing/Rapid Re-housing
- Outreach/Path

Upon completion users will receive a certificate granting them access to HMIS for a year. Failure to pass the exam will require users to register for a Recertification Refresher course. This course will cover the topics pertinent to the exam and can take approximately 25-50 mins to complete (depending on your specific project type). While there is no fee for the exam, there is a $25 fee for the Refresher Course if one fails the exam.
An email will be coming soon (within the next week or two) on when this exam will be available. If you have any questions, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@allchicago.org.
