In the HMIS, Referral Need Statuses are used to communicate between the Referring and Referred-to Provider regarding the status of the referral to ensure that proper protocols are followed and the participant can receive ample amount of support as needed.
Referrals are located in the client record, within the Service Transactions tab > View Entire Service History
This will take the user to a table of all the services that have been provided to the client. You may filter these by selecting the Referrals tab
All services, including referrals, are partnered with a need.
- The need provider indicates the Referring Provider.
- The referral provider indicates the Referred-to Provider.
The current status can be found in the column Need Status/Outcome. Please refer to program-specific documentation regarding what each status means.
To edit the Need Status, click either corresponding pencil icon and locate the Need Status and Outcome table.
Don't forget to Save any changes made to the record!
