HMIS Quarterly Spotlight is a new quarterly webinar series for HMIS users/providers. This series is designed to reinforce important HMIS workflows, highlight best practices, and provide additional guidance on topics that directly impact data quality, reporting, and day to day system use.
Each Quarterly Spotlight session will focus on a specific HMIS topic. These topics will be selected based on trends we are seeing across the system, including common Helpdesk questions, recurring workflow issues, reporting inconsistencies, and other areas where additional clarification may be helpful. The goal of this series is to provide practical guidance that supports more consistent data entry, stronger reporting outcomes, and a better overall understanding of key HMIS processes.
Sessions will be open to all HMIS users and are not limited to ATAs. Whether a user is newer to HMIS or has been working in the system for some time, these sessions are meant to provide useful reminders, process clarification, and opportunities to strengthen core workflows.
What to Expect
Each HMIS Quarterly Spotlight session will focus on one specific HMIS topic and will be structured to provide users with practical, focused guidance that can be applied in day to day work. Depending on the topic, sessions may include a review of workflow expectations, clarification on areas where users commonly run into issues, discussion of how certain processes affect reporting or data quality, and references to related Helpdesk articles or tools that users can use after the session. Some Spotlight sessions may focus more heavily on data entry workflows, while others may center on reporting-related processes or recurring areas of confusion that impact multiple projects or agencies.
Registration information will be shared in advance of each session, and email invitations will be sent to all active HMIS users/providers ahead of the webinar date. Each session will be hosted live and will also be recorded so users can return to the content later or share it internally with staff who were unable to attend. Over time, these sessions will also create a library of recorded guidance and supporting resources that users/providers can refer back to when they need a refresher on a specific process or want additional context on a topic that affects system use, data quality, or reporting.
How Topics Will Be Chosen
Topics for HMIS Quarterly Spotlight will be selected based on trends we are seeing across the system and areas where additional guidance may be helpful for the HMIS community. This may include common Helpdesk questions, recurring workflow issues, reporting inconsistencies, data quality concerns, or other patterns that suggest a topic would be of benefit.
