One point for each child under five (pregnancy counts as a child under five) and half point (0.5) for every dependent child five or older
Two points for any family separation (question #2)
Two points for any current involvement with the child welfare system (open neglect case, or have a child in foster care) (questions #4 and #5)
Add an additional two points if the respondent has ever had a child in foster or adoptive care (question #6)
One point if female respondent had her first child at age 20 or younger (question #7)
